I don't know about you but I have often been accused of being addicted to coffee which got me to thinking - "Am I?"

An addiction is defined as a dependence on something , symbolized by 3 things:

1. severe withdrawal symptoms

2. developing a tolerance to a certain dose and the need for more of the same substance;

3. a loss of control or a need to consume the substance at all costs.

Is my habit an addiction or is it something else? I have to admit that the aroma gets me every time. The other day I was riding around with a "few" bags in the back seat that I had forgotten about. Every so often I would get a whiff and would proceed to furiously scour the streets looking for the coffee house so I could dive into the drive-thru and grab a cup. Finally it dawned on me that I was smelling the coffee in my car. I had a good laugh, typed the nearest coffee bar into my GPS, and made a pit stop.

Addiction or Passion. Since I don't have cold sweats if I don't get my morning cup of Joe or miss paying my bills to get a cup of coffee, I'm going to classify it as a "passion." A passion is defined as a strong liking for some activity or object; ardent affection; an object of desire or deep interest.

That's what I am - Passionate. And now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to passionately have my second cup of coffee for the morning.
