High Tea

I was fortunate enough to attend a high tea given by a couple of friends this past weekend. For most Americans, the morning or afternoon break is not often referred to as "tea" because the beverage has not traditionally been a widespread choice amongst us. We prefer "coffee breaks." However, I think I may have been converted to the 'lighter' side. I enjoyed the most relaxing day I've had in a long, long time. A quiet, conversation-filled, slow-paced afternoon.

We were served delicate Benedictine sandwiches on white bread, chicken salad on rye, mini country ham biscuits, mini quiche, asparagus wrapped with croissant, scones, raspberry muffins, horse-shaped toast, caramel blondies, brownies with fudge icing, huge, sweet strawberries, truffles, and so much more. I think I gained 5 pounds:-) Plus, all the tea (in so many flavors, I couldn't count) we could drink. And everything was served on the most beautiful blue and white china with a horse theme. What a beautiful day. Once you've experienced a high tea - trust me - you will be converted.
